How many of us have started to travel just in the hope to escape from a broken relationship, a failed friendship, or a just any kind of deception in their life? We have all been through this. But let me tell you that some destinations can be of great help, other can add more to the already existing pain. I bet you can already guess already which is on the top of my 'Don't Go' list. |
Whether we agree or not, Paris has earned an international reputation as the most romantic city in the world (a well-deserved reputation in my opinion). But wandering across its stunning bridges across the Seine, standing in front of its glittering Tour Eiffel at night, or just taking the city’s metro which resonates with a non-stop melody of old French ‘chansons d’amour’ will bring some an unwanted memories to your mind. Regrets, longing, frustration, you name it. Flashbacks of old days, of what went wrong, of how you couldn’t fix, and lots of unnecessary questions which no matter how much mental effort you put, will be left unanswered. So avoid the city of Love, at least for now.
At this stage all you need to do is to alienate yourself with all the emotion stimulators order to regain your. And in Rome, how can you neglect the sensual, fervent and passionate aspects of the Italian capital. Every corner is ornamented with a love fountain, with people from around the globe coming to declare their love, revive their love or simply ask for love. It’s hard for me to say that, but Rome is definitely not for you, at least for now.
Prague is absolutely one of my favorite city of all time. Its unique architecture and overwhelming history can’t help but leave you captivated and melancholic at the same time. Prague’s most famous Charles bridges, which is one of the most beautiful in Europe, has a strange magic spell, an aura of black romantism. You feel like hunted and at the same time can’t stop walking back and forth to contemplate the statutes all along the way, tangled with mixed emotions. Plus, are you ready to be reminded of Kafka’s nightmarish stories and inner ghosts wherever you go? Am not sure.
We all tend to indulge in all kind of pleasures when we feel down. Which is totally legitimate as long as it’s with moderation. But Amsterdam? Seriously? You definitely don’t think it’s a good idea to get stoned with all the marijuana cafes around the city, over-buying stuff from the Magic Mushroom Shop, or even worse, getting lost in the Red Light District if you are a guy. It will make you numb for some days, but once you are back to your country, at these heavenly remedies are out of reach, tell me more about how depressed you will feel!
I don’t mean to disappoint you, and it’s not the end of the world. The good news is that there might be other destinations which can reenergize you, motivate you and help you reconnect with the true self. You can go on your own or get your best friends to join you. Pack your stuff now, and check these out!
